Owl Creek Conservancy Project Manager

The Owl Creek Conservancy is seeking to fill the new full-time position of Project Manager.  Reporting to the Executive Director of the Conservancy, the Project Manager will assist on many fronts in furthering the Conservancy’s mission of conserving natural and agricultural lands in the Knox County Area through widespread private action.  The Project Manager will play a primary role in the processes that lead to the permanent protection of private land in Knox County, as well as manage data, oversee accreditation, serve on relevant committees, attend internal and community meetings, and provide support for the Executive Director and Board.   

Responsibilities

Easements:

  • Manage the Local Agricultural Easement Purchase Program applications
  • Assist with the procedural details of completing conservation easements 
  • Assist with creating Present Conditions Reports
  • Collaborate with community partners such as Township Trustees, County offices, Park District, Philander Chase Conservancy, Ohio Department of Agriculture, and others to further the Conservancy’s mission

Stewardship:

  • Assist with annual monitoring of properties through site visits, recordkeeping, and communication with landowners

Community Outreach:

  • Serve on the Outreach Committee and Fundraising Committee
  • Maintain the website and social media presence
  • Assist with events, including planning, promotion, and execution 
  • Oversee the Annual Report, quarterly newsletter, and other printed materials

Data:

  • Assist with management of corporate and property records
  • Manage constituent database, including mailings and reporting

Accreditation:

  • Manage the accreditation process and work with the Executive Director to maintain accreditation standards

 

Work Environment

Most work is in an office with some field work and occasional evening or weekend events.

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to operate office equipment and computer programs; excellent oral and written communication skills.

Exceptional interpersonal skills; capable of building positive relationships with Conservancy trustees, community stakeholders and landowners.  

Motivated self-starter able to work independently or collaboratively.

Strong management and organizational skills with an ability to manage time and follow through on simultaneous projects with great attention to detail.

Land trust experience preferred.
