What they are and why they are important
Did you know that Owl Creek Conservancy has conserved over 300 acres of riparian areas in Knox County?
Riparian areas play a critical role in regulating water quality and supply. They act as natural buffers, reducing soil erosion and filtering pollutants before they reach waterways. Offering habitats for a wide variety of plants, animals, and aquatic species they also help prevent floods and recharge groundwater. Without healthy riparian zones, ecosystems weaken, water resources diminish, and the balance between land and life is disrupted.
Help us conserve more of of our precious waterways right here in Knox County!
